Week 17

Hey,

Another week closer to playing again. The week started off great with a running session and with my knee feeling pretty strong and ended with me being wholesomely and entirely withered...

On Tuesday I was invited to speak in Mary I for a 'Women in Sport' event with an incredible group of women and my ex Mary I football coach Richard Bowles and it really was an excellent, inciteful evening listening to everyones stories.

Sometime between then and Friday I started feeling exhausted, unsure if it was tiredness from the increased training load, tiredness because I was withered or what it was but it was really frustrating because I couldn't actually explain it myself (fully demented). My knee was sore on Wednesday in work, unexplainably sore. I didn't do anything different the day before or the days previous that I had been doing so I just iced it, used the kneehab device and hoped it would go back to being ok quickly. I find this part of the recovery process more frustrating than anything else.

By Friday it was feeling pretty good again and I was able to participate fully in the Clare gym session (other than the running), but I could do the session the rehab group was doing (All smiles :))! That was a big win for the week :). I was back to reformer pilates then on Saturday! I love those sessions they are really very tough but you feel great after them! I did another pool session after, some swimming to help with the knee and the sauna! It's back feeling not too bad again so hopefully that will last!

I committed last night to a 125km on the 6th of April around the Cliffs of Moher! Now that will be a challenge so I'd better start with the training, looking forward to it though! Cycling is brilliant for the knee! I'm doing it in aid of the HOPE Foundation and I will then be going to Kolkata as part of the Immersion programme during the Easter Holidays to visit the children and the projects which the fundraising is going towards. I'm getting three wisdom teeth out on Wednesday so I've to make sure I'm organised until then so as not to miss much training! (Praying it won't be cancelled #PrayForNaomi :)).

On a positive note it's the midterm :)

Achievements of the week:
1. Agility work is improving - Ladder drills/Reaction times decreasing.
2. Full participation in gym session including agility :)
3. Committed to cycling 125km in less than a month! Something to work towards.
4. Charlie and I have perfected our jumping on kitchen chairs routine (Charlie now thinks he can sit at the kitchen table for all meals - oops).

 - 2 x Machine/Strength days
 - 1 x Free Weight/plyometrics
3 x Running/Plyometrics
